Assessing a Message
As an example of proof and evidence of how psychic abilities can provide guidance in life, I offer one of my own experiences. I received a message as part of a Master Class exercise that was profoundly helpful and related to a piece of art!
The group, led by the august Pataji, used psychometrized numbers (on paper) to bring messages to everyone in the group. In this exercise no one knows the name of the person they are reading. Each medium is reading the energy off of the paper number alone.
My reader began with, “I have the number 18 which equals 9….I see Denise’s drawing for the Silence the Mind event….the billows…”.
No one knew, including the reader, that I was number 18. I knew immediately that this reader was definitely reading my energy. The reader, by mentioning my drawing, was well attuned so I really paid attention. I am grateful for this message from spirit.
The reader continued, “…each billow has a gap between it. And the billows are growing larger and larger. The gaps are distinct between each billow. Development continues from billow to billow. It is your will, which gets you from billow to billow. Pay attention, pay attention, pay attention.”
This is the image referred to. There is no doubt, to me or to anyone present at the class, that this is the image being referred to in the message brought forward.
When asked to do a pencil drawing for the event mentioned the image of a hibiscus flower and a beachside meditator came to me instantly (that doesn’t happen all the time!). I fashioned the hibiscus into cloud like forms with the center of the flower as a sunset creating a calming scene for meditation, which for me brought silence to mind.
The title Silence the Mind reminded me of the teaching from Emil in The Teachings of the Masters of the Far East (volume 1, page 34). “…Silence is power, for when we reach the place of silence in mind, we have reached the place of power – the place where all is one…”
Now let’s assess the message itself. The medium first mentioned that my number 18 equals 9, which represents Universal God Consciousness, mastery. This is a lovely message in and of itself bringing me much joy.
Next, billows were mentioned. A billowing object is an object that can puff, swell and/or surge (like billowing waves or clouds). The message included a vision described by the reader of ‘billows’ growing larger and larger and noted this referenced my development.
I feel this refers to my development as a medium as well as my general spiritual development. When getting messages from a medium it is important to stay open to the words and images and allow a resonance – a knowing that this feels right or there is no feeling one way or the other.
It is my job as the recipient of the message to pay attention to what resonates and make an effort to be attuned to the intention of the communication. It is also important to note that sometimes a message doesn’t feel right for now but that some time later – maybe even years later, the messages meaning becomes clear.
Next the message included a reference to the spaces or gaps between each billow, which I take to mean that there may be rest periods or quiet spaces between these growth spurts.
The student medium then said that my will is what gets me from billow to billow (from step to step in my development). Perhaps I am meant to enforce my will to traverse the billows to study, practice and stay focused on the path.
This reminds me of a message I received a few years ago as part of a reading from another medium. I was told that my journey would be a series of ascending cliffs or mountains and walking plateaus. There would always be another mountainous lesson, study or practice and another plateau of quiet assimilation. There will be times of exertion and times of rest.
This reminder serves as a melding of the information from past and present messages, giving more weight and validity to this message. The medium giving me last night’s message has no clue what my reading from a few years ago consisted of or what it indicated to me. The two messages fit hand in glove and feel right.
The final part of the current message was to pay attention. Well to pay attention X3! Okay, I’ll pay attention. I have received this message many times and I admit I’m starting to think in some respects I may be a dullard. Am I consistently missing something or is it simple marching orders (given with love)?
Every message I have ever received always leaves me with more questions and that is wonderful! As the saying goes, “Relax, nothing is under control.”
It is amazing how often messages have more than one meaning. The billows will continue to move, surge and change. The gaps will always be there. I can traverse this landscape by exercising silence in mind through meditation. It’s all part of Embracing the Mystery.
